We’re bringing back our “Meet Our Totems” series where we introduce a member of the TTT family once every 2 weeks and allow you to meet the wizards behind the magic.
There’s no better person other than Vahan (Apple Fanboy and iOS Genie) to help us kick off this series. We’re very excited to announce Vahan as TTT’s new Lead iOS Developer. He’s been a core contributing member to a number of successful projects these last 2 years, and definitely deserves the recognition. The man is one of the most passionate people I’ve ever met. Not only is he incredibly talented, but he always goes above and beyond in his projects just because he genuinely loves what he does. His attitude is infectious, and constantly motivating those around him.
I sat down with Vahan and got him to divulge some of his secrets to life.
Give us a little bit on your background/biography.
I moved to Vancouver from Yerevan, Armenia to expand my horizons in the tech industry and in a new country, and I really liked the idea of Canada.
What are some interesting things about yourself?
I’ve been a huge fan of Apple products ever since I got my first iPod. I have an extensive collection of Apple devices, and am always the first to obtain the latest and greatest apple device.
I also love performing arts. I spend a good 20% of my earnings on plays, musicals, and concerts. It’s becoming an issue :).
What is your most memorable moment working here?
I remember this one project we worked on last year with Rocky Mountaineer. We got to take part in the experience so that we could better understand the service and the message they were trying to get across. It was my first time experiencing anything like that and I was blown away. It was such an amazing experience going to a place like Banff on a luxurious train.
What is your secret super power? (something you’re very good at, that not everyone knows)
I’ve been told my hugs are great!
What do you enjoy working on the most?
I really love working on projects that have the potential of making a huge impact on people’s lives. It’s very rewarding to feel like you’re making a difference not only in your field, but beyond that.
I also really enjoy coding with Swift.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Playing boardgames with friends, going to the cinema and watching documentaries about the earth science and engineering.
On the weekends, I also enjoy going for walks on the seawall with my headphones in and hitting the gym.
Bonus: Who do look up to? (Who is your hero) Why?
Elon Musk. I love that he’s changing the world, by preventing unwanted change. He’s a pioneer for humanity, I think he’s very a very inspiring person.
And…I love Beyoncé
