The Helm was initially built as a proof of concept with limited functionalities, aiming to provide partners with a functional dashboard. However, after testing the platform with users, they recognized the need for updates to create a comprehensive and customizable visualizer.
As vessel pool management relies on a strategic approach where multiple vessel owners combine their ships into a single pool for enhanced efficiency, it is crucial to power this process with modern tools and advanced, customizable data management.
Navigate the maritime industry with confidence
Teekay entrusted TTT Studios to design and develop The Helm Phase II, a new and improved version of their platform. Based on Teekay’s insights and further user research, the team focused on enhancing the user experience exponentially.
The Helm Phase II allows users to effortlessly navigate real-time data, access vessel pool fixtures, receive daily market updates, financial information, and view current and past voyage data. Additionally, users can conveniently download monthly reports for better decision-making.

The team’s pursuit of this goal began with meticulous preliminary research, diving deep into user behaviours and interactions. This process revealed that gaining hassle-free platform access, advanced security, and the freedom to tailor the system to their preferences would have the most significant impact on the usability and overall user experience of the platform.

Now, The Helm II puts users in control, allowing them to make the most of their dashboards with the help of functional filters to tailor the system to their preferences. This flexibility enables users to delve deeper into data analysis smoothly and streamline reporting through automated monthly documents, providing flexibility, efficiency, and valuable insights that propel their business forward.

In addition to these improvements, the team reworked the platform’s scalability to generate, view, and customize any number of groups of ships, called pools, on command, ensuring unmatched flexibility and efficiency.
This new feature provides important voyage details and expected earnings for each selected pool, enhancing decision-making and overall fleet performance understanding.

The login system and process underwent a significant overhaul, ensuring hassle-free platform access and enhancing the user experience from the moment they open the platform. With just a few clicks, users can effortlessly log in, benefitting from the added security provided by Microsoft’s authentication services.
