It started with a simple question from my doctor: “Do you keep a tracker or diary of your cycle?” I didn’t—and hadn’t ever thought to. It felt like an extra step in an already busy life. But the question stayed with me. Menstruation is something 1.9 billion individuals of reproductive age experience1, but how many are actively tracking it? Do they use apps, pen and paper, or opt not to track at all—perhaps influenced by feelings of discomfort or uncertainty?
This simple question led me to reflect on a larger issue: are healthcare solutions truly addressing the nuanced needs of women and menstruating individuals? While the idea of a menstruation tracker might seem straightforward, it quickly became clear that even this simple action requires a level of personalization and empathy that isn’t always built into healthcare solutions.
The global healthcare industry has often struggled to meet these unique needs, but FemTech is beginning to reshape the narrative. With the market projected to reach $1.07 trillion by 20262, momentum is growing, yet gaps in care remain. Thoughtful, user-centric design is essential, as the success of any solution depends on how well it aligns with the user experience—becoming either a trusted tool or just another unused app.
In this blog, I explore the realities of women’s healthcare, highlight exciting advancements in FemTech, and examine how thoughtful design can transform this momentum into meaningful, tangible change.
The Problem: Overlooked and Underserved
For decades, health issues unique to individuals who menstruate or experience conditions such as menopause have received only a fraction of healthcare research funding, with just 1% targeting female-specific conditions outside oncology3. This lack of focus translates to significant gaps in care, leaving millions underserved. For example, in Canada, nearly 41% of medical schools do not cover menopause in their curricula4, leaving countless individuals without adequate support for life-altering symptoms. The consequences are stark: many are leaving the workforce, citing debilitating health conditions like menopause.
This neglect represents an enormous opportunity for innovation. Companies like Nyah are stepping in with tailored solutions, offering personalized consultations and comprehensive care plans for individuals navigating menopause. Similarly, Wellthy addresses caregiving challenges with a digital concierge service that helps manage tasks like scheduling appointments and navigating insurance. These examples showcase a strategic, user-centric approach—asking the right questions, identifying the most impactful gaps, and delivering custom solutions designed to meet the diverse needs of individuals often overlooked in healthcare

Building What You Deserve
The need for thoughtful, custom software in women’s health has never been clearer. Quick-fix solutions that treat the symptoms, not the roots, fail to address the deeply personal and multifaceted challenges faced by overlooked communities. FemTech innovators are proving what’s possible when technology is designed with empathy, precision, and a commitment to real impact—paving the way for solutions as extraordinary as the people they serve.
At TTT Studios, we are proud to champion innovation that doesn’t settle for ordinary. We build resilient, scalable software with users at the heart of every decision. Because when it comes to healthcare, where lives and well-being are on the line, nothing less than extraordinary will do.
