Tell us about yourself. What’s your story/background?

“I was originally born in Malaysia. My parents and I moved to Canada when I was a 1 year old and spent the majority of my teen years in Pitt Meadows. In school, I wanted to become a welder but there weren’t many opportunities out of university at the time, so I chose something math and science related, which I was good at. I ended up in engineering, and considered mining engineering because I wanted to blow things up” (typical boy…) “But since I was placed in computer engineering, I found enjoyment in hardware development. In my last year of university, I took a course called database management. I was placed into a team where we decided to create a simple android app over three months. Seeing the turnover of a project and watching it come to life was really exciting.”

How did you end up at TTT? First Impressions?

“I came to TTT when there was a total of 5 people in the company. I was one of the first android developers. The work environment here is very family oriented. Chris, Dave, and Jo felt like older siblings looking out for the developers, and trusted me very quickly. I felt nervous landing something in my career field right away, but excited to start a new opportunity where the founders believed in me from the start.”

What are some interesting things about yourself?

“I’ve traveled to many places in Asia, including Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Korea and Thailand, which is my favourite. We played with elephants in a elephant sanctuary and I really liked the food. Everyone was very friendly.”

What’s your most memorable moment working at TTT?

“I guess finishing my first app, Mojio which was a connected car app. Another cool thing is seeing how much TTT has grown. Starting off with 5 people and seeing the company grow five years later has been pretty awesome. Back when the team was a little smaller, we used to go on annual golf trips which were always fun.”

What is your secret super power? (something you’re very good at, that not everyone knows)

“I can clean the bathroom well. When everything is pristine and white, it’s nice.”

What do you enjoy working on the most?

“Collaboration. I enjoy working with a group of individuals who are experts in their field and being able to create apps with the team, including the creation, engineering and designing.”

What do you like to do in your free time?

“SLEEP.” (He did not hesitate at all). “I also like to go hiking, read manga and anime, and visit my family. In the winter I love to go snowboarding too.”

Who do you look up to? (Who is your hero?) Why?

“My mom and dad. They left everything they knew in Malaysia to give us an opportunity to have a better life here. The idea of sacrificing everything you know for family is one of the craziest things.”
